Funeral services for Dewey Main Turner, 75, of Norman were held June 29, 2005 at Crosspointe Church in Norman with the Rev. Marvin Martin and the Rev. Joe Grizzle officiating. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
Mr. Turner died unexpectedly June 26, 2005 at his home in Norman.
He was born May 23, 1930 in Durant, the seventh of 10 children of Raymond Carl Turner and Willie Tiny Purcell. He was reared on the family farm.
In 1950 he married Letha "Teeter" Cox of Odessa, Texas, and together they reared two daughters, Bobbie and Billie. They were married 19 years.
While living in Texas Mr. Turner worked in the oil field as a roughneck. In 1953 he moved to Oklahoma City and began learning his trade as a concrete finisher. There he started his own buisnss, Turner Concrete Construction.
On May 26, 1969 he married Raye McCoy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Don and Jim and three sisters, Beulah Allen, Patsy Chavez and an infant sister, Joann.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Raye, of Norman; two daughters, Bobbie Stapp and her husband, Dan, and Billie Adkins and her husband, Keith, all of Norman; three grandchilden; three great-granddaughters; one brother, Bob Turner and his wife, Phyllis, of California; three sisters, Betty Allen and her husband, Alvin, of Atoka and Dorothy Wheeler and her husband, Orville, and Ivy Coble, all of Odessa, Texas; two foster daughters, Shawnelle and Natasha Hicks of Norman and two sisters-in-law, Pat Turner of Okmulgee and Bobbie Turner of Oklahoma City.
Pallbearers were Danny and Dan Stapp, Keith Adkins, Dean Long, Earl Chaffin and David Stafford.
