Funeral services for Joe Ann Adams will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Soper, OK with Pastor Lee Armstrong officiating and burial following in the Sugar Creek Cemetery.

Joe passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013, in Durant, Oklahoma, at the age of 69. Joe Ann Johnson Adams was born March 8, 1943, in Altus, OK the daughter of William Allen and Elsie Jewel (Brewer) Johnson. She married Curtis Adams in Soper, OK in 2002 and was a homemaker. Joe Ann was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church outside of Kenefic, OK. She had lived in the Soper area for the past sixty-nine years after moving here from Altus, OK. Joe Ann worked as a live in baby sitter from the age of seventeen until she was twenty years old. Also she worked as a live in sitter for the elderly. She was a mother of three children that she raised on her own. Joe Ann never put anything ahead of her children, relationships or personal things. She always made do with what they had and was creative in cooking with few supplies so that her children were taken care of. She loved Christmas and always gave her children gifts and sometimes had to borrow to give. She loved to dance every Saturday night at the American Legion in Boswell, OK and always took her children with her.

She was preceded in death by W.C. Johnson, W.A. Johnson, Loretta Fields, and her little dog "Missy".

Joe Ann is survived by her husband, Curtis Adams; daughters, Claudinia Roman of Kenefic, OK and Malina Gordon of Antlers, OK; one son, Allen Chad McKay of Soper, OK; 8 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 25, 2013, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel in Hugo, OK.
