Funeral services for Donald Gene Guthrie were held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, Oklahoma with Pastor Roger Barnes officiating. Gene, 69, passed away on October 11, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Gene was interred at the Springs Chapel Cemetery.

Gene Guthrie was born May 23, 1947 in Pasadena, California. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mamie Guthrie, as well as brother Leon. Gene is survived by brothers Art, Frank, Lester, Michael; sisters Lila, Patricia, Shirley; and the many cousins in the McClain family living in Hugo and Choctaw County. We all loved him very much.

Gene was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Altadena, California. He graduated from Pasadena High School before serving in the Army during the Tet Offensive in Vietnam. He moved to Oklahoma after returning from the service, and worked with a local recycling center. His interests were playing the guitar and riding his bike.
