Funeral services for Charles David Hammock will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel with Bro. Joe Maple officiating and burial following in the Soper Cemetery. Charles passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 in Paris, Texas, at the age of 86.

Charles David Hammock was born August 21, 1928 in Soper, Oklahoma, to Wylie and Stella (Holt) Hammock. David was a hard-working man who lived all his life in the Soper community and who thoroughly loved and enjoyed his family, especially the grandchildren. He was an excellent piano player that could play anything by ear, jamming with a neighborhood country music band. In the early days when quail was plentiful, he was an avid bird hunter. David worked over 45 years with a cattle ranch operation which has been a legacy to his family. He served as a dedicated Social Studies teacher and basketball coach for 32 years with Soper and Grant Schools, giving 16 years to each. After retiring from education, he also served as a rural mail route carrier for the U.S. Postal Service while continuing on the ranch. David will be dearly missed, but fondly remembered by his family, friends, students, and Soper folks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Estelle Fennell and Ruby Fern Lewis; brothers, Wylie Hammock Jr. and Jerry Wayne Hammock; great-granddaughter, Bailey Hammock.

David is survived by wife, Linda of the home; sons, Mark Hammock and wife Gina of Soper, OK, Ron Hammock and significant other, Peggy Davidson, of Soper, OK; step-children, Justin Martinez and wife Misty of Lewisville, TX, Sonia Biasitti and husband Mike of Campbell, TX, Mark Roberston and wife Lisa of Hugo, OK; grandchildren, Kacy and Jakus Hull of Durant, OK, Haly Hammock of Soper, OK, Melonie and Byron Hau of Duncan, OK, Shawn Hammock of OKC, OK, Cayden Gibson of Prague, OK; step-grandchildren, Reid Jordan of Soper, OK, April Palmer and husband Chase of Hugo, OK, Reese Martinez and Caleb Martinez of Lewisville, TX; great-grandchildren, Jesse Hau and Trent Hau, Kolby Hammock, Austin Hammock and Jayse Wiley.
