Harriet E. (Robinson) Perkins

Funeral services for Harriet E. Perkins will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Doug McClure officiating, and burial following in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Harriet went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 13, 2012, in Hugo, OK at the age of 100.

Harriet E. Perkins was born August 21, 1911, in Seligman, MO, the daughter of Edwin Jackson and Ida Elizabeth (Stinson) Robinson. Her father worked for the railroad and the family moved to Soper in 1914. She was raised in this area and has been a resident of Hugo, for the past 75 years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hugo, and was active with the Senior Adult Choir. She married Rudolph Ray Perkins on June 9, 1934, in Coalgate, OK. Harriet was a school teacher and started her teaching career at the age of 18 in Pushmataha County and taught in Choctaw County 2nd Ward School System until she retired. During her teaching career, she had taught in most all of the small schools. She also worked for the Dept of Public Welfare for 20 years. Harriet enjoyed children, and volunteered at 1st Ward School after retirement.

She was an expert seamstress and loved gardening and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudolph Ray Perkins in 1992; one brother and two sisters. Harriet is survived by three nieces and nephews, Robbie and G.W. Horton of Mesquite, TX, Ralph & Penny Perkins of Sunset, SC and,Naomi Stanfield of Hewitt, TX; 7 great-nieces and nephews; 8 great-great- nieces and nephews; 6 great-great-great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Brenda Ashalintubbi of Idabel, OK and Ann Lawler of Eagletown, OK.
