A celebration of Norman Guin’s life will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Southside Baptist Church in Hugo, OK with Rev. Wayne Higginbotham officiating, and burial following in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Norman Lee Guin of Hugo, OK went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the age of 77. He was born November 11, 1931 in Lepanto, Arkansas the son of Roy and Margie (Askew) Guin.
He had lived in the area all of his life. He married Marie Crain on May 23, 1958 in Hugo, OK. Norman worked at Ryan Freight and Lemmond’s Produce in his early years before beginning a long career at Burlington Northern Railroad in the bridge and building department before retiring from the railroad. Norman served his country in the Armed Forces, being in Germany for two years. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and led music for 45 years in various churches during his life. Norman loved his family and touched so many lives with his love for God, his beautiful voice, and his love for music. He and his daughters sung as a trio in many churches. He loved to volunteer for Little Dixie and was a part of the Little Dixie Band for several years.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents.
Norman is survived by his wife Marie of the home; two daughters: Debbie Jordan and husband David, Charlotte Coleman and husband Timmy all of Hugo, OK; one brother Alton Guin and wife Martha of Melissa, TX; one sister: Wilma Fox of Hugo, OK; one brother-in-law: Arnold Crain and wife, Betty of Hugo, OK; one sister-in-law: Sue Barnett and husband, Will of Hugo, OK;four grandchildren: Josh Jordan and wife Liberty of Lawton, OK, Justin Jordan, Jason Jordan, Crystal Rushin all of Hugo, OK; four great-grandchildren: Kelton, Mackenzie, Dylon, Macknzie.
Family has requested that donations be made to the Choctaw County Relay for Life or the Oklahoma Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association.
