A celebration of Marie Guin’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in the Southside Baptist Church in Hugo, OK with Rev. Wayne Higginbotham officiating and burial following in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Marie passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011, in Hugo, Oklahoma, at the age of 73.
Marie Guin was born November 23, 1937, in Hugo, Oklahoma, the daughter of Theodore Arnold and Willie Jewell (Collins) Crain. She graduated from Hugo High School in 1956, and soon married Norman Guin on May 23, 1958, at the Trinity Baptist Church in the Messer Community. Marie worked in the ladies hat dept at Neiman Marcus in Dallas, Texas in the early 60’s and then as a secretary and teachers aid in the late 60's. Her fondest joy was to be a homemaker where she enjoyed to cook and collect cook books. She loved and cared for her grandchildren, and was known as the family doctor. Marie was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Norman in 2009.
Marie is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Coleman and husband Timmy, Debbie Jordan and husband David all of Hugo, OK; one brother, Arnold Crain and wife Betty of Hugo, OK; one sister, Melba Sue Barnett of Hugo, OK; one brother-in-law, Alton Guin and wife Martha of Melissa, TX; four grandchildren, Crystal Rushin and fiance Cheynne Rosson of Hugo, OK, Josh Jordan of Lawton, OK, Justin Jordan of Hugo, OK, Jason Jordan and fiance Morgan Dooling of Paris, TX; four great-grandchildren, Kelton Lee Jordan, and Mackenzie Rushin both of Hugo, OK, Ava Marie Jordan, and Ashton McKnight both of Paris, TX and one on the way, Keagon Lee Rosson; special friends, Stormi Bates, Shadavia Beasley, Katelyn Lester, Mrs. Billie Rogan; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family has requested that donations be made to the Choctaw County Relay for Life. Family and friends are invited to sign the guest book or send private condolences to the family at www.praterlampton.com
