Funeral services for Floyd R. Foley will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the 4th Street and Jackson Church of Christ. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, OK with Brother Donnie Bates officiating. Mr. Foley, a longtime Hugo businessman, passed away at his home on Monday, May 7, 2012, in Hugo, Oklahoma at the age of 91.
Mr. Foley was born on June 28, 1920 in Burkburnett, TX, the son of John and Ida Mae (Smith) Foley. He left home at the age of 14 and worked his way through high school and college at Oklahoma A & M, where he graduated with a degree in Agriculture. He married Bettie Jean Crocker on December 14, 1944, in Miami, Florida. He became a pilot for Pan American Airlines and was commissioned as a second Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. Mr. Foley flew American bombers across the Atlantic to England for use in the European theatre. He continued his military service in the Air Force Reserve from which he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Floyd had lived in this area for over fifty years and was a member of the 4th Street and Jackson Church of Christ. He was a devout Christian who throughout his life shared and taught the plan of salvation. He and his wife, Bettie owned and operated Foley Real Estate. During his career he ran a variety of small businesses, primarily motels and ranches. He was a commercial real estate broker and a certified appraiser, specializing in ranches, motels and other income producing properties. Mr. Foley built and operated the Village Inn in Hugo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bettie Jean Foley in 2006; and son, Jimmie Alan Foley.
Mr. Foley is survived by four children, Forrest Foley and wife, Mardelle of Spring, TX, Charla Moore and husband, Jim of Arlington, TX, Elizabeth Foley Williamson and husband, Don of Houston, TX and John Paul Foley of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, J.D. Moore and wife, Andie of Arlington, TX, Justin Foley of Houston, TX, Reagan Prather and husband, Warrant Officer Joel Prather of Clarksville, TN, Casey Foley of Portland, OR and Bailey Moore of Arlington, TX; four great-grandchildren, Cannon Prather, Mason Moore, Mackenzie Prather and Brendan Osborn; three sisters, Maxine, Faye and Betty Sue.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 10, 2012, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel in Hugo, OK.
