A Memorial Visitation for Don Griggs will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel in Hugo, OK. The family encourages friends to stop by and celebrate the life of Don with them.

Don passed away Monday, May 2, 2011, in Tulsa, OK at the age of 75. Donald Wayne Griggs was born on April 14, 1936 in DeKalb, TX the son of Walter Lee and Emma Ruth (Evans) Griggs. He moved to the Hugo area at a young age and lived here most of his life. After graduating from Hugo High School, he attended S.O.S.U. of Durant, OK, and then later transferred to O.S.U. in Stillwater, OK, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and graduated in 1959 with a degree in Business.

Don married Willa Claire Patterson in Hugo, OK on August 23, 1958. He owned and operated Griggs Insurance Agency in Hugo, OK. Don was a member of the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and was a current member of the Vestry. He also served as a past Senior and Junior Warden. He loved playing golf, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. Don was a dedicated friend, father and follower of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Willa Claire Griggs in 2007; and his brother, Claude Griggs.

Don is survived by one son, Guy Griggs and wife Cindy of Sand Springs, OK; two daughters, Donna Martin of Tulsa, OK and Angela Andrews and husband, Kurt of Perry, OK; five grandchildren, Will Andrews and Alex Andrews both of Perry, OK, Garrett Griggs and Carson Griggs both of Sand Springs, OK, Max Martin of Tulsa, OK; special friend, Hava Harbour.

Memorial services for Don Griggs will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Hugo, Oklahoma, with Reverend Arlen Fowler officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 803 S. 3rd St, Hugo, OK, 74743.
