Margie Ava (Brownfield) Elswick

A celebration of her life for Margie Ava Elswick will take place on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the 4th & Jackson Street Church of Christ with Jamey Boone and Steve Harbison officiating. Margie has requested everyone wear bright colors. Margie passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014 at home surrounded by loved ones at the age of 69.

Margie was born June 19, 1945, in Gay, Oklahoma to the late Edd and Lela (Crow) Brownfield. She became the beloved bride of Chuck Elswick on June 19, 1998. She and Chuck enjoyed traveling the country and finding adventure in the everyday. She was a member of the 4th Jackson Street Church of Christ and worked for 16 years at City Medical until her recent cancer diagnosis. Margie was a well-known member of the community and friend to many. She was an avid reader, an expert at drawing people out of their shells, and a devoted mother and grandmother.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Edd & Lela Brownfield; her sister, Hazel Moore; and her brothers, Harrall Kelly and Wallace Brownfield.

Margie is survived by her husband, Chuck Elswick of the home; her sister, Margie Olean Bullock of Buda, TX; two daughters, Christi Killian of Oklahoma City, OK and Carla Blair of Edmond, OK; two sons, Michael Boone and wife, Elizabeth, of Springfield, VA, and Jamey Boone and wife, Tammie, of Paducah, KY; eight grandchildren, Deryll Searles, Kristen Blair, Michael Blair, Emma Boone, William Boone, Elijah Boone, Jeremiah Boone and Estella Boone; two great-grandchildren, Ella Blair and Grayson Blair; and many special friends and cousins.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 5:00 P.M. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel in Hugo, OK.

The family requests donations may be made to the Harding University’s School of Bible & Ministry c/o CAMT, 915 E. Market Ave., Searcy, AR 72149, or the Choctaw County Public Library, Attn: Brenda Webb, 703 E. Jackson, Hugo, OK 74743. The family would like to thank Dr. Mike Irvin for his compassionate care.

Friends and family are invited to a meal at the church annex at noon before services.
