DeWayne passed away Monday, June 28, 2010 in Hugo, Oklahoma, at the age of 62. DeWayne Lea Priddy was born November 2, 1947 in Hugo, Oklahoma, to John "Willie" and Pearl (Hendley) Wright. She had lived in this area all of her life. DeWayne retired as a 24-hour home health provider after 15 years. In life DeWayne has been described as witty first and foremost. She could always come up with a solution or often a remark that brought joy and laughter to those who needed a little pick me up. Next she has been described as strong. A woman with true physical and mental strength to give her children, sister and friends a helping hand. From those strong hands came some artistic creations that we all treasure. A very versatile woman is an understatement. Those who knew her for the woman that she was will miss her greatly but will always be able to say I remember when DeWayne helped me. She was also a great comfort to those whose body would wear out on them, she gave them a reason to continue until their job here on earth was done. She was the type woman who would not want her loved ones to be sad but rather remember the good times and even the true messes that she was always able to fix. DeWayne was a mother, advisor, friend & confidant to a great many people and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by by her parents.

DeWayne is survived by one sister, Joan Guthrie of Hugo, OK; one son, Billy Powell and wife Debbie of Ft. Towson, OK; two daughters, Recesa Powell and husband Allan McLemore of Coleman, OK, and Melinda Birchfield and husband, Jamie of Ft. Towson, OK; nine grandchildren, Bridget Powell, Rachael Belcher, Bram Powell, MayKela Burchfield, Cody Owens, Dakota Owens, Kylie Owens, Spencer Owens, and Stephanie Benjamin; three great-grandchildren, Toby Benjamin, Brody Benjamin, and Memphis Owens; several nieces and nephews; and host of extended family.
