Funeral services for Rodney Downey Hammons will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church in Ft. Towson, Oklahoma with Pastor Tommy Hull and Pastor Bennie Hammons officiating and burial following at the Ft. Towson Cemetery in Ft. Towson, Oklahoma. Rodney passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016, in Hugo, OK, at the age of 64.

Rodney Downey Hammons was born November 4, 1951, in Talihina, Oklahoma, to L.W. and Ada I. (Wade) Hammons. He had lived in this area most of his life and was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church in Ft. Towson, OK. He also was a member of the Choctaw Nation. He worked in construction for Brown and Root Construction Company. Rodney loved animals, reading, watching old movies, and motorcycles. He loved people, like Will Rodgers, and he never met a man he didn’t like.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Noami Hammons; both grandparents; brothers, Junior Hammons, Glen Hammons and Jack Hammons.

Rodney is survived by his sons, Chris Hammons and wife, Jennifer, of Piedmont, OK and Bret Hammons of Swink, OK; daughters, Leona Berryhill and husband, Robert, of Goodwater, OK and Downey Hammons of Spencerville, OK; brothers, Jerry Hammons of Shreveport, LA, Bennie Hammons and wife, Debbie, of Enid, OK and Lonnie Hammons and wife, Susie of Pine Creek in Valliant, OK; sisters, Mary Mitchell and husband, Mike, of Hugo, OK, Linda Wallace and husband, Jim, of Hugo, OK and Jonnie Rosson and husband, Johnny, of Ft. Towson, OK; former wife, and mother of two sons, Joetta Collins Hammons of Ft. Towson, OK; seven grandchildren, Michael, Erica, Jacob, JC, Justus, Jaden and Landon.

Family will receive friends, Sunday, September 18, 2016, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., at the Prater-Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, OK.
