Funeral services for Glen A. Guthrie will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel with Rev. Otis Cayton officiating, and burial following in the Ft. Towson Cemetery.

Glen passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010, in Hugo, Oklahoma, at the age of 67. Glen A. Guthrie was born July 30, 1942, in Nowata, Oklahoma, to O.L. and Edna (Stoser) Guthrie. He moved to Choctaw County in 1964 from Clovis, NM.

Glen married Joan Lynn Wright on July 5, 1966, in DeQueen, AR. He served in the National Guard for many years. Glen worked for the Frisco Railroad for 18 years in the mechinal department, and then retired two years later from Texas-Oklahoma & Eastern Railraod (TO&E). Glen, in his retirement years continued his work ethic, handling his ranch in his traditional manner of hard work, perfection, and common sense. His ranch, like everything he achieved in his life, was also a success. He always believed that if you are going to do a job, do it the best. All friends and family who knew him, would gladly receive his wisdom, or truthful opinon, when he shared it with them. He lived by the old cowboy rules, that stood back in the day, work hard, play harder, and this served him well. He did what he loved, being a rancher and enjoyed working every day.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dean Guthrie; and one brother, Gary Guthrie.

Glen is survived by his wife Joan Guthrie of the home; one son, Lee Guthrie of Hugo, OK; two sisters, Dena Hunter and husband David, Diane Heddleston and husband Ray both of Hugo, OK; two grandchildren, Payton Glen Guthrie of Durant, OK, McKenzie Guthrie of Hugo, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
