J. C. Davis, 78 of Chewey, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at W.W. Hastings Hospital with his family at his side. He was born February 11, 1931 at his family home in Delaware County to Charlie and Ida (Hogshooter) Davis.

He met and later married Alice Cordelia Pittman on May 24, 1954 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Mr. Davis worked for a number of years as a heavy equipment operator. When he was not working, he enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, playing music on his guitar and working on cars. He was a member of the Illinois Baptist Church. J.C. was truly a unique person and will be missed by all that shared in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and twin baby sons; Johnny Lee Davis and Jackie Dee Davis and two other infant children; Donald Wayne Davis and Kenneth Eugene Davis. He was also preceded in death by a sister; Alice Davis and a brother; Cornellius Oakball. His grandson; Bobby Joe Davis 11, went to be with the Lord in Glory as well.

He is survived by his wife; Alice Davis of the home, his five boys; Kenard O'Dan "O'Dean" Davis and wife Carol of Gentry, Arkansas, James Charles Davis Jr. and wife Dianne of West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma, Bobby Joe Davis of Chewey, Oklahoma, Danny Dwayne Davis and wife Doreen of Gentry, Arkansas and Brian David Davis and wife Delilah of Decatur, Arkansas, his daughter; Alice Charlene Williams and husband Charles of Chewey, Oklahoma also survie him. He leaves to mourn his passing three special people that he reared and came to know as his own children, and they are; Johnny Snell, Brandon Snell and Sandra Snell. Siblings; Andrew Davis of Colcord, Oklahoma, Marie Bird of Chewey, Oklahoma, Mary Summerfield of Jay, Oklahoma and Pearly Pickup of Jay, Oklahoma. He leaves a legacy of seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Services for Mr. Davis will be held Friday, June 26, 2009 in the Souls Harbor Church in Chewey, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Thompson Cemetery in Chewey. Arrangements are under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah, OK.
