Services for Darlene McClure were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 22, at the Hart Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Basil McClure officiating. Interment followed in the Tahlequah City Cemetery under the care and direction of Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah.

Serving as pallbearers were Roger Faber, Leonard Ballew, Brian Murphy, Randy Underwood, Ty Young and Gary Jennings.

Joy Darlene McClure, the daughter of Leonard and Ruby (Dotson) Kirby, was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Jackson County, and departed this life on Oct. 17, 2012, in Tulsa at the age of 80 years, one month, and eight days.

Darlene was a devoted wife for over 62 years to her love, Dr. Major McClure.

She was a public school teacher in the Tahlequah area for over 22 years, teaching at Briggs and also for Tahlequah Public Schools.

She was a member of the Elk's Lodge in Tahlequah for over 20 years, where she was currently serving as the chairman of the trustees. She was the first woman to be the exalted ruler in the Tahlequah Elk's Lodge.

Darlene loved her family and was a proud and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jim McClure; brother, Emery Kirby and his wife Coleen; and her brother Donnie Kirby.

Darlene is survived by a loving family which includes her husband, Major McClure, of the home; sons Gary McClure and wife Veronica of Tahlequah, and Kevin McClure and wife Sarah of Edmond; brother J.W. Kirby and wife Marilyn of Wichita, Kan.; sister Linda Waldrop and husband Don of Cordell; sister-in-law Bonnie Kirby of Duke, Okla.; grandchildren Gary J. McClure, Bruce McClure, Jeremy McClure, Michael McClure, Sarah Ann McClure, Jared McClure, and Caitlin McClure; and nine great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive her.
