TAHLEQUAH — Larry Miles Hembree, Tahlequah resident, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012, following a long battle with cancer. He was 64 years of age.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Tahlequah City Cemetery, with Rev. Don Nichols officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.

Larry Hembree was born July 4, 1947, in Oklahoma City, the son of Tracy Custer and Ethel Marie (Grimm) Hembree.

He began working in the grocery business with Steve Davis and Riley Cavin, managing Best Yet and other stores all over Oklahoma. He later worked for Sam Riggs, who was his district supervisor.

After Larry left the grocery business, he began working as a distributor for Mission Foods. In time, he was promoted to district manager and regional manager, covering several states.

After moving to Tahlequah, he worked for Bob Barry as vice president of sales for Plantation Nuts. His accomplishments could be attributed to his work ethics and positive outlook on life. Larry's main focus, however, was on God and his family.

Larry is survived by his wife and soul mate Ann, of the home; two daughters, Tracy Adams and Andrea Hembree; two sons, Casey Hembree and Chris Hembree; one brother, David Hembree; one niece Alicia Hembree; two great-nephews and one great-niece; seven grandchildren, Lauren Sherrell, Bo Adams, Megan Adams, Dylan Adams, Carlie Hembree, Shylee Hembree and Rocky Merrill; and one great-granddaughter, Averi Sherrell.

He was preceded by his parents. Larry left a host of cherished friends.

The family would like to thank Hope Hospice, Angels Home Health; Dr. Ravikumar Vasireddy and staff, and Dr. Daniel Murphy and Dr. Paul Hobbs for the care and compassion they showed to Larry and his family during his illness.
