TAHLEQUAH – Services for Denver C. Fletcher, age 82, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5 at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ron Rice will preside. Interment will follow services at Tahlequah City Cemetery. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Hart Funeral Home of Tahlequah.

Denver C. Fletcher, of Tahlequah, previously of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, was born Oct. 14, 1926 in Charleston, Ark., the son of Charley Lewis Fletcher and Sarah Jane (Conley) Fletcher. On Aug. 25, 1951, Denver married Ruth Butler in Van Buren, Ark. Their marriage was blessed with two children.

Mr. Fletcher served in the Army from 1945 to 1947 during World War II and for a period time was stationed in Hiroshima, Japan. Denver was employed by Southern Farm Bureau Insurance in Arkansas for 30 years as an insurance adjuster. He was a past Master Mason and District Deputy Grand Lecturer in Arkansas, and a member of the Cherokee Masonic Lodge No. 10 of Tahlequah. He was a Methodist. Denver was a wonderful husband, loving father and grandfather. His family was the joy of his life. Mr. Fletcher died in Tahlequah on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at the age of 82.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Fletcher, of Tahlequah; a daughter, Janie Huddleston, of Little Rock, Ark.; a son, Denver Fletcher Jr., of Maumelle, Ark.; three granddaughters, Erin Fletcher and Tyler Fletcher, of Maumelle, Ark., and Lauren Fletcher, of Little Rock, Ark.; and two brothers, Bobby Fletcher and Joe Fletcher, both of Muldrow; as well as many other friends, family members and loved ones.The family asks that those wishing to send an expression of sympathy consider making a memorial donation to the Cherokee Masonic Lodge in Tahlequah.
