Tahlequah-Memorial services for Richard Charles MacKeen of Tahlequah will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2002 in the Go Ye Village Chapel in Tahlequah.

Richard Charles MacKeen son of Charles J. MacKeen and Irene J Strautmann, was born on June 22, 1914 in St. Louis, MO and died Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at Tahlequah City Hospital.

MacKeen grew up in St. Louis, MO, and worked for 38 years at Southwestern Bell Telephone, retiring as the Yellow Pages Directory production manager for Missouri and eastern Kansas. He married his highschool sweetheart, "Ginna," on New Year's Eve, 1933, and they recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.

In 1986, he and his wife moved to Go Ye Village retirement community in Tahlequah, which they enjoyed for the past16 years together. They spent many summers in beautiful northern Minnesota.

MacKeen was blessed with many talents, excelling in art, music, baseball, archery, fishing, billiards and golf; which he played into his 80s. He was well known for his leadership, sunny disposition, sense of humor, courage and his deep love for Jesus Christ, his Savior.

He is survived by his wife Virginia Barker MacKeen of Go Ye Village, Tahlequah; four children, Sherie MacKeen Clark of Tampa, Fla., Rev. Richard C. MacKeen Jr. of Proctor, William S. MacKeen of St. Louis, MO, and Virginia M MacKeen of Wagoner; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
