Maxine Washington

Funeral services for Maxine Washington, age 54, will be held on Monday August 20, 2007 at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Rick Gassaway officiating.

Interment will follow at Barber Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hart funeral home of Tahlequah, OK.

Maxine Washington was born on July 19, 1953 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of William and Emma (Christie) Cheater.

After attending high school, Maxine went on to obtain her bachelors degree in behavioral sciences. In the past, Maxine worked as a councilor for the Cherokee Nation Housing Authority. When she wasn't working, she loved the time she spent with her three children, Shelby, William, and Amy Washington. She was skilled in beadwork and made beautiful creations. Maxine enjoyed a good book and loved to watch sci-fi on T.V. She volunteered at the Kings Aid Station and the Cookson Methodist Mission whenever possible. A baptist by faith, she attended both the Elm Tree Baptist and the Blessed Hope Baptist Church.

On Wednesday, August 15, 2007, the Lord called Maxine home for a well deserved rest. She was 54 years old. Her family and friends will miss this very special lady.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, William and Emma Cheater.

Those left to cherish her memory include three loving children, Shelby Washinton of Tahlequah, OK, William Washington and wife Erica of Park Hill, OK, and Amy Washington of Chickasha, OK. Maxine has three sisters and two brothers, Pearlene Flute and husband George of Tahlequah, OK, Jean Bohlken and husband Denis of Wichita, KS, Marquita Cheater of Tahlequah, OK, Dale Cheater of Stilwell, OK and Nick Cheater of Tahlequah, OK, Maxines has five adored grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of special friends at Grace Living Center, and loved ones.
