Sammy Beamer was born March 8, 1943 and died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008 at the age of 65 years.Preceding him in death were his parents, Raven and Martha Feathers, two infant brothers and one sister, Gracie Catron.Sammy leaves behind four daughters: Ahniwahe Hendrickson, Lenora Hammer, both of Tahlequah, Alice Lamproe of Springdale, Ark., Elsaphine Gonzalis, of Stilwell; one son, Thomas Beamer, of Nashville, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Randy Feathers, of Pumpkin Hollow, and Joe Feathers, of Park Hill; two sisters, Retha Catron, of Park Hill, and Faye Deason, of Wauhillau. Sammy also leaves behind nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends.Sammy was a member of Little Creek Church, in Nashville, and also visited a sweat lodge there. Sammy was ill for a long time and slowly got worse. But, that didn't keep him from working. In his spare time he would do yard work around his hometown. He was a worker. Sammy liked shooting pool and fishing. His job was delivering medicine to hospitals and nursing homes until his health kept him from driving. After that, he worked part-time for Wal-Mart, until he was admitted into the hospital. He spent his last few days in the hospital. Just a few hours before he passed away, he ate a good full meal, something he wasn't able to do in a long time. He was happy, joyful, feeling good, like nothing was wrong. He joked and laughed with his visitors, and late that night his heart just stopped functioning. He passed away peacefully. Sammy is in good hands now. May he rest in peace.A memorial will be held at Barber Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m.Reed-Culver Funeral Home, 117 W. Delaware, 456-2551.
