James Oliver "J O" Perkins Jr

James Oliver "J. O." Perkins, Jr. was born October 17, 1937 in Tabler, Oklahoma to Evelyn Lee (Goodnight) and James Oliver Perkins, Sr.

J. O. graduated from Chickasha High School in 1955.

He married Geneva Jean Moore on August 18, 1957 and to his union 3 sons were born. J. O. retired in December 1990 after 31 years of service as an area manager for Southwestern Bell. He moved from Altus to Newcastle in 1977. After Jean's death, he married Loretta [Smith] Byers on July 14, 1990 at Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

He was a member of Newcastle United Methodist Church, Newcastle Lions Club, Sooner Schooner RV Club, and Telephone Pioneers of America.

J. O. served many hours as a volunteer for the community and his church. He enjoyed music and computers. J. O. and Loretta enjoyed traveling for several years. He fought a valiant fight against lung disease. J. O. was a very warm, caring person and loved God and his family and friends and will be missed by many.
 

He passed away December 17, 2005 at 68 years of age.
 

Survivors include his wife, Loretta of Newcastle; sons Larry Perkins and his wife Nancy of Moscow, Russia; Jeffrey Perkins and his wife Ashley of Edmond; step-son Harrell Byers of Ardmore; grandchildren, Brandon, Josh, Karsten, Alexander, Taylor, Jordan, Lauren and Olivia; brothers Charles Perkins and his wife Frances of Chickasha, Jim Perkins and his wife Charlotte of Bedford, Texas; numerous other relatives and friends.
 

J. O. was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Geneva "Jean" Moore, son Tracey, and step-son Rodger Byers.
 

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at the Blanchard United Methodist Church. Reverend Ron Perceful of Newcastle United Methodist Church will officiate with private interment held at 3:00 p.m., December 20, 2005 in the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Arrangements made by Eisenhour Funeral Home, Blanchard.
 

In Lieu of Flowers, donations in J. O.'s memory may be made to the Newcastle United Methodist Church, Growth By Grace Fund, P.O. Box 345, Newcastle, Oklahoma, 73065.
