Emma Elizabeth (McMillan) Loving

Services for Emma Elizabeth Loving, 102, of Wilson, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22 at the Ash Street Church of Christ with Gary Scott LaBeth officiating. Interment followed in the Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson.

Born April 6, 1908 at Newport, the daughter of John Lee McMillan and Mrs. Cora Carpenter McMillan, she died Monday, April 19, 2010 at Healdton, just 13 days after her 102nd birthday.

Mrs. Loving was raised at Simon, attending school there and at O’Savior. During her school years she enjoyed playing basketball. As a young girl living in Simon she worked in the cotton fields. She and Clarence Gilbert Loving were united in marriage on October 7, 1929 at Wilson. They made their home at Simon, farming and raising peanuts until they moved to Wilson in 1944 when Mr. Loving began working in the oilfield. Mrs. Loving was always a devoted homemaker and housewife who loved to garden and sew. She was also a very loving grandmother and always took great pleasure in sewing items for her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Ash Street Church of Christ of Wilson.

Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Elmer Loving in 1968 and daughter-in-law, Phyllis; husband, Clarence, September 24, 1988; brothers, Lester, Luther, Bill, Odis, Audie and Virgil McMillan; sisters, Cora Lee and Ella; two sons-in-law, Bobby Claxton and Bill Cornish; and one great-grandson, Bobby Butler.

She is survived by three daughters, LaVerne Cornish of Ardmore, Anna Mae Poirot and husband Dale of Moore, and Barbara Elliot of Wilson; two sons, L.C. Loving and wife, Colene and E.L. Loving and wife, Barbara, both of Wilson; 14 grandchildren, Ronnie, Sherri, Elaine, Stan, Chuck, Cathy, Carol, Rhonda, Steve, Rod, Kalinda, Preston, Dyanna and Janet; 29 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Faye McComber of Ardmore and Elena Loving of Burneyville; and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Ronnie Claxton, Stan Loving, Chuck Loving, Steve Poirot, Rod Elliott and Preston Loving. Honorary bearers were Phil McMillan, Charles McMillan, Jimmy McMillan, granddaughters, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mercy Health of Healdton, 918 SW 8th, Healdton, OK 73438.

This obituary included a picture of Mrs. Loving.
