Joy Beth McCombs passed away peacefully on August 3, 2023, in Oklahoma City surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

Known affectionately as "Geemaw", Joy was born on November 29, 1935, to John D. and Kate Stewart in New Orleans, LA. At age 3, the family moved to Waco, TX.  where Joy graduated from high school in 1953. While in Waco, she attended the Columbus Avenue Church of Christ and was baptized at the age of 12.|
 

She met the love of her life, Donald O. McCombs, at Abilene Christian College in Abilene, TX and the two were married on February 9, 1957. The couple was blessed with three beautiful daughters.      
 

Joy and Don with their growing family moved to Yukon, OK in 1971 where they lived for more than 50 years. They were active members of the South Yukon Church of Christ and participated in many community events. Her Christian faith was important to Joy and she encouraged her family right up to the end to maintain a relationship with Jesus Christ. 
 

She is preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Jerry Don Stewart.

Joy is survived by her husband of 66 years, Donald McCombs of the home, her three daughters, Cheralynn Stevens and husband Roy, Donette Simonds and husband Cary, and Dee Anne Holt and husband Tim, all of Oklahoma City, along with a sister, Dorothy McElwain of Fort Worth, TX. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren of which she was most proud.  

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Yukon Cemetery, Yukon, OK.
