Olive Carton Seamands
Calumet Chieftain
09 May 1922
Submitted by: Kathleen G. King Parker

OLIVE CARLTON SEAMANDS Olive May Carlton was born in Sumner County, Kansas, May 11, 1889.
Departed this life at home near Calumet, Oklahoma, November 2, 1922, age 33 years, 5 months, and 21 days.
She came here with her parents to Oklahoma in 1891 and for several years lived near Chickasha, coming to Canadian County November 7, 1897, and has since lived in the same place as a small girl, and young woman and later one of the highly esteemed women of her neighborhood.
She was married to Clarence Seamands, September 21, 1910. To this happy union there were born three daughters, Virginia, Edna May and Ruth.
These children, her husband, her mother, Mrs Phoebe Carlton, two half-sisters, Mrs. Lizzie James and Mrs. Clydia Hubbard of May, Okla., an aunt, Mrs Mamie East, of Dallas, Texas, and two cousins, Mrs Ruby Kerr of Dallas and Mrs. Louie Ferguson of Oklahoma City, with many friends mourn their loss.
She was happily converted and joined the Red Rock M.E. Church, March 31, 1907, and has beautifully adorned the Christian profession all through these remaining years.
For several years Mrs. Seamands has fought a courageous battle against disease, but in spite of all that could be done the battle for health was lost. And yet apparent defeat shall result in glorious victory by her faith in a resurrected Savior, "Who loved us and gave Himself for us."
Funeral services were conducted in the Red Rock church Saturday afternoon by her pastor, Rev. C. A. Simmons, assisted by Rev. W. H. Zook, and mortal remains laid to rest in the Red Rock Cemetery, attended by one of the largest audiences ever seen at a funeral at the place.
