Malcolm “Bill” Williams Rischard, 83, passed away on June 11, 2019, in North Canton, Ohio. He was born on September 11, 1935, in El Reno, Oklahoma.          

He was preceded in death by his father, Malcolm Berry Rischard, and mother, Myrle Elizabeth (Williams) Rischard, wife, Carolyn Lou (Nickles) Rischard, son, Russell Dayton Rischard and daughter-in-law, Kim (Weddington) Rischard.               


He was married to Carolyn from June 7, 1958 until 2009. They were married for over 50 years. He took loving care of her during her battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Survivors include his daughter, Sheryl (Greg) Blanchard, son, Randall (Ashley) Rischard, sister, Rosalie (Roy) Sells, and eight grandchildren – Suzanne (Keith) Ayala, Rachael (Stormie) Rischard, Alison (Brad) Cross, Matthew Rischard, Joshua (Alysha) Blanchard, William Rischard, Cameron Rischard, Ella Rischard – and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was married to Mary Hawthorne from December 5, 2009 until 2017. Survivors include Mary and three stepchildren, Jeanine (Chase) Magnuson, Cathie (Ronnie) Evans, and Richard (Heather) Hawthorne, and four step-grandchildren – Jacob Downes, Katie Evans, Ryan Evans, and Grace Evans.  

Bill moved extensively as a child as his father worked on construction projects in Kansas, New Mexico, California, and throughout Oklahoma. Bill graduated from Putnam City High School (Oklahoma City) in 1953. He enrolled in then-Oklahoma A&M College in 1953 to study engineering and graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1958 with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. He pledged to Alpha Tau Omega fraternity during his time at school.

Working for natural gas companies led Bill and family to New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Texas, and Oklahoma. His work also included projects in Louisiana, Wyoming, and Michigan. He was employed by Williams Brothers Engineering Company from 1971-76, Williams Companies from 1976-91, and consulted with other companies after his retirement in 1991. Bill also published two books during retirement, Pelican Pipeline and Race for County Q as Malcolm Rischard.

Bill enjoyed traveling. Trips covered the United States extensively and more than 25 other countries, including several on church mission trips. Longtime membership in the United Methodist denomination included Aldersgate, Asbury, Faith, and Boston Avenue in Tulsa, and Cookson UMC. He was treasurer at Cookson Hills Indian Mission during the time he lived at Lake Tenkiller. At Boston Avenue UMC, Bill was a spokesperson for the Hispanic Mission, and he attended monthly meetings at Nueva Esperanza UMC in Tulsa.

He loved traveling, hunting, OSU sports, history, writing, interacting with fellow engineers at Pipe Liners Club of Tulsa, and spending time with his family.


Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 2, 2019, from 9-10 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 7431 E 91st Street in Tulsa. Celebration Of Life service will follow at 10 a.m., officiated by Senior Pastor Charla Gwartney.

Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at El Reno Cemetery, 1300 E. Elm Street, El Reno. Graveside service will be officiated by Reverend Pandora Crawford.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pipe Liners Club of Tulsa, https://www.tulsapipeliners.org/, or Oklahoma State University.
