Mary Alice Nation

Mary Alice Nation was born March 31, 1943 in Hoxie, Arkansas, to Walter and Margie [Bowers] Smith. She passed from this life late Thursday, September 7, 2006, at her home south of Anadarko, Oklahoma, at the age of 63 years, 5 months and 7 days, following a long illness.

She grew up in Arkansas and Illinois, and came to Chickasha, Oklahoma in 1972. She worked at Grady Memorial Hospital for a while and worked at Shanoan Springs Nursing Home for many years, as an administrative assistant, retiring in 1993. She and Roy C. Nation were married on November 21, 1993 in Duncan, Oklahoma. They moved to Anadarko in 1995.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gradening, canning and ceramics. She was a member of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 13 brothers and sisters, and one stepson, Stephen R. Nation.

Survivors include her husband, Roy of the Anadarko home; two sons, Kevin Sneed and wife Danielle of Houston, Texas; Kelly Sneed and wife of Tulsa; and one stepson, Roy C. Nation, Jr., of Anadarko; one stepdaughter, Diane Nation of Anadarko; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Smith and wife Judy of Arkansas; and Pat Smith and wife Mary Lou of Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many loving friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 11, at the graveside, with Greg Dakil officiating.

Interment was in the Memory Lane Cemetery.

Viewing was held until 5 p.m. Saturday, and from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday at Steverson Funeral Home.
