Lois Lorene [Prather] McCarty

Lois Lorene McCarty was born July 6, 1918, in Erick, Oklahoma, to Lester and Essie (Dennis) Prather. She passed from this life on Wednesday, May 19, 2004, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 3 days.

She grew up in Erick and attended schools there.

She and Leonard Doyle McCarty were married there on August 3, 1935. They came to rural Anadarko in 1936, and were engaged in farming.

Mr. McCarty died June 4, 2001.

Mrs. McCarty has lived in the same house for 60 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved to crochet, and enjoyed making a garden and working in her yard.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Survivors include two sons, Doyle McCarty of Verden, Oklahoma, and Jerry McCarty of Chickasha; six grandchildren, Sheila Barron of Amber, Angela McCarty of Chickasha, Gerald McCarty of Verden, Matthew McCarty and Nathan McCarty, both of Greely, Colorado, and Charity McCarty of Lubbock, Texas; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many loving friends.

Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 22, with Rev. Ed Whitley officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Steverson Funeral Home. Visitation will be until 5 p.m. Thursday, and from 9 a.m. til 9 p.m. Friday.
