Alvin G. "Buster" Matlock

Alvin G. "Buster" Matlock, 88, life long resident of Anadarko, Oklahoma, was called home by the Lord on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at his home.

He was born January 29, 1918 in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Alvin joined the United States Army in April of 1945 and was honorably discharged in August of 1945.

He was united in marriage to Bonell Roller on August 22, 1945 in Anadarko, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on June 3, 1995.

He started farming and worked part time as a caretaker for the Anadarko Fair Grounds. He was a honorary member of the Anadarko FFA Club. He was a full time farmer until November of 2005, when he had a stroke. That didn't slow Alvin down, he still had the kids get him in the pickup and go out and check the cattle, cause no one could check `em like he could.

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by: One daughter: Linda Ensminger of Cement OK; three son's and daughter's-in-law: Leon Matlock and wife, Lois; Jimmie Matlock and wife, Debra; Johnny Matlock and wife, Debbie all of Anadarko, OK; Grandchildren: Kelley and Richie McGlothlin of Anadarko; Richard and Mike Harrison of Tampa FL; Kim and Terry Pruitt, Megan Matlock, Deetra and Danny Lynch all of Anadarko, OK; Jess and Latisha Matlock of Cement; Jeremy and Jamie Matlock of Fredericksburg, VA; Great-grandchildren: Shane and Sheyanne McGlothlin, Christina and Dakota Pruitt, Tyler Matlock and Brady Lynch all of Anadarko, OK; One brother and sister-in-law: Charles Matlock and wife, Betty of Midwest City, OK; a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bonell and two brothers, Walter and Bob.

Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Smith Funeral Chapel, Anadarko, OK. Roger Settle officiated.

Burial was in the Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, OK under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Anadarko, OK.
