Karol Joy [Kidd] Castro

Karol Joy Castro entered life on May 21, 1941 and departed on October 23, 2005 at the age of 64.

She was born Karol Joy Kidd to parents Wallace Kidd and Dorothy Lucas Kidd in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Curt & Winifred Lucas, and 1 son, Chris Mills.

She leaves behind 1 son, Sean Mills of Oklahoma City, and 1 daughter, Irish Stogner, of Oklahoma City and a son-in-law, Todd Stogner of Oklahoma City. She also leaves her granddaughters, Isabel Stogner and Emma Stogner and a former husband, Phillip Castro.

She grew up in Anadarko, Oklahoma where she graduated from Anadarko High School in 1959. She attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma and graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority at the University of Oklahoma and a member of PEO, Chapter DI in Anadarko.

She and her mother operated their own dress shop, The Green Apple, in Anadarko and Cripple Creek Clothing in Duncan, OK. She then went to work for Washita Valley Community Action Agency, serving as the Director for Senior Nutrition. Later, she was named Fiscal Officer for Washita Valley Community Action Agency before her retirement in August 2005.

She attended church at The Church of the Servent United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City where she volunteered as a group leader for the childrens ministry program, F.W. Friends.

She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and best friend. Her love for her family, her friends and her pets was never ending and always self sacrificing. She will be missed.

Graveside services will be Thursday 10:00 A.M., October 27, 2005 at Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko, Oklahoma with Reverend Travis Muse officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Vondel Smith & Son.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Humane Society of the Unites States, 2100 L Street NW, Washington, DC, 20037.
