William Daniel Mara
Sept. 4, 1929 - Mar. 27, 2004

Private services for William Daniel Mara will be held. Bill was born in Maysville, Oklahoma on September 4, 1929 and he passed away in Bakersfield on Saturday, March 27, 2004 with his family by his side.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel J. Mara and Grace Taylor and he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cecelia Mara; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Margaret Mara; daughter, Candice Ingram; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Kemp Cravens; son, Chi Mara; 4 grandchildren, Patrick and Brian Mara and Natalie and Christopher Cravens; sister, Joyce Hilburn; brother, Jack Mara and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill moved to Kern County with his family in the 1930s. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. During that time he served as a cook which became his profession. Bill worked in Bakersfield for over 35 years where he was a chef at the Skyway House, Freddies Top of the Hill and helped to open Rio Bravo Country Club, as well as the Scottman Restaurant.

Bill enjoyed listening to music, watching NFL football and going to Las Vegas.
