Funeral Services For Hope Payne Set For Thursday

Funeral services for Vera Hope Payne, retired postal employee of Fort Cobb, will be held at 2 p.m.Thursday, Nov 1, at the Church of Christ, Fort Cobb. Mr. Rod Carroll, local minister, will officiate.

Mrs. Payne passed away at Grady Memorial Hospital, Chickasha early Monday, Oct. 29, at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 20 days. She had been in ill health for some time.

She was born December 5, 1923 at Garner, Ark. She was married August 24, 1945 at Searcy, Ark., to Deward E. (Gene) Payne. They came to Cement in 1957 from Arkansas, and moved to Fort Cobb in 1971. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Fort Cobb.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene, of the home; two sons, James of Montgomery, Ala., and Ernest of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Dorothy Jean Lankister, Cement and Sharon Ann Page, Chickasha; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Wanda Lee Hill, Norwalk, Calif.

Music for the service will be furnished by the church choir. Songs are " Nearer My God To Thee", "No Tears In Heaven" and "A Beautiful Life."

Pallbearers will be June Brewster, Paul Jackson, Lawrence McCullough, Randall Stockton, Duane Owen, Walter Owen, Vance Parr and Walter Dyer.

Burial will be in the Fort Cobb Cemetery, under direction of the Fort Cobb Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ building fund, or to the Cancer Society.
