Roy Eugene Smith
November 21, 1918 ~ April 6, 2018


Roy Eugene Smith Of Stecker, Oklahoma Was born November 21, 1918 near Eakly, OK to Samuel Elmore and Cordelia [Riggins] Smith. He passed away April 6th in Lawton at the age of 96.

He married Gwendolyn Baze in Eakly in 1941.

During World War II, Roy spent time on the home front growing food for the war effort.

After a short time living in Oregon, Roy and Gwen purchased the land south of Anadarko where he lived and farmed for the next 65 years.

Gwen passed away in 1966.

He married Irene Waller in 1967 in Cyril. She preceded him in death in 1998.

Roy worked in the oilfield for many years as a driller and derek hand. He then went to work as a carpenter contractor for the airbase in Wichita, KS. He farmed wheat and raised cattle and always kept a garden.

He enjoyed reading Westerns. Roy loved spending time with his family, who all live on the home place, especially the grandchildren.

He is survived by: 1 son and his wife- Bill and Donna Smith, Stecker, OK 2 daughters - Barbara and husband, James Ferrell, Stecker, OK Helen Landry, Stecker, OK 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, 1 nephew - David Rexroat, Ft. Cobb, OK, 2 special friends - Ralph Redin, Bridget Jones.

He was preceded in death by: His parents His two wives, 2 sisters - Emma Rexroat, Meda Hamilton, 3 brothers - Ezra Smith, Calvin Smith, Harley Smith, 2 grandchildren - Dana Smith, Billy Smith, 1 great-granddaughter- Jessica Ferrell Gomez.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 9th at 10:00 A.M. at the Alfalfa Cemetery north of Carnegie, OK with Pastor Dan Standifer officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.
