Joe Ivan Phillips

Funeral services for Joe Ivan Phillips, 68, of Ninnekah will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 21, 2006, at the Parkview Christian Church with David Woods officiating and Ezell Nelson assisting.

Joe Phillips was born January 16, 1938, in Hinton, Oklahoma, the son of Guy and Zelda [Pierce] Phillips. He died Thursday, August 17, 2006, at his home in Ninnekah.

Joe grew up in the Ft. Cobb/Broxton area, graduating from Broxton High School in 1957.

On June 21, 1957, in Oklahoma City, Joe married the love of his life, Neva Nell Hudson. This union blessed them with three children: Carrie, Michael and Jamie. They recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary.

He and his family came to Chickasha in 1970. He worked for Humpty-Dumpty and Tom's Distributing for several years, and then in 1985 he went to work for Interstate Battery Company where he was currently employed.

He was a loving and caring husband, father, poppy Joe, and friend. He had a heart of gold, and was always there to lend a hand or to help anyone in need.

He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.

He and Neva have been members of the Parkview Christian Church since 1972.

He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Phillips.

Survivors include wife, Neva of the home; daughter, Carrie Phillips of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Jenny Phillips, of Chickasha and Jamie and Trish Phillips, of Aubrey, Texas; mother, Zelda Phillips, of Ft. Cobb; two brothers: Carl Phillips and family, of Cement, and Paul Phillips and family of Wardville; and one special granddaughter, Racheal Phillips, of Chickasha.

Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Apache, Oklahoma under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
