Joseph Edward Sylvester Sr
March 27, 1926 ~ October 4, 2003


Funeral service for Joseph Edward Sylvester, Sr., age 77, of Cyril, Oklahoma, will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Cyril Assembly of God Church.

Joseph Edward Sylvester, Sr., was born on March 27, 1926. He died on October 4, 2003.

Services will be under the direction of the McRay's Cyril Funeral Home.

Colleen [Clark] Sylvester
March 24, 1929 ~ February 24, 2018


Colleen [Clark] Sylvester was born March 24, 1929 in Cyril, OK to Arthur and Eilene [Black] Clark. She passed away February 24, 2018 in Oklahoma City at the age of 88.

Colleen graduated from Cyril High School and went to work at the post office. She worked with her sister, Waldine, as a postal clerk until her sister retired. She took over as postmaster until she retired with 46 years of service.

Colleen married Joseph Edward Sylvester, Sr. on June 17, 1951 in Cyril. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2003.

She was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God and enjoyed being a part of the Ageless Encounters group at church.

Colleen belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution. Saturdays were spent shopping. Her family gave her great joy, and she loved going to their activities and sporting events.

She is survived by:1 son and his wife-Joseph and Tomi Sylvester, Jr. Cyril, OK 1 daughter and her husband - Tana and Brad Alexander Cyril, OK 6 grandchildren- Justin and wife, Kristi Sylvester; Canda Coley, Bradley Alexander, Lacey Alexander, Austin and wife, Wendy Alexander; Bradley Claborn 10 great-grandchildren - Joey Sylvester, Taylor Sylvester, Matthew Sylvester, Hayley Sylvester, Reese Sylvester, JaKobie Kaesemeyer, Kenzie Pocowatchit, NaKoa Coley-Tahhahwah, Donnie Alexander, Scarlett Alexander 1 sister- LaNell Harrison Cyril, OK

She was preceded in death by: Her parents Her husband, Joseph Sylvester, Sr. 1 daughter, Candace Sylvester, 1 grandson, Ben Sylvester 3 brothers- Shirley Clark, Austin Clark, Ronald Clark 2 sisters - Waldine Knodel, Ruby Roggli Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 27th at 2:00 P.M. at the Assembly of God with Pastor Randy Cocheran officiating. Burial will follow in Celestial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Cyril Funeral Home.

Benjamin Scott Sylvester Sr
August 16, 1976 ~ October 25, 2005


Benjamin Scott Sylvester, age 29 of Cyril, Oklahoma, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2005, in the Cyril First Baptist Church.

Benjamin Scott Sylvester was born the son of Joseph Edward Sylvester, Jr. and Tomi Marlene Yager Sylvester on August 16, 1976, in Lawton, Oklahoma.

He died on October 25, 2005, in Duncan, Oklahoma.

He married Amy Renner on September 25, 1995, in Chickasha.

Ben grew up in Cyril and graduated from Cyril High School in 1994 where he was Salutatorian and President of his senior class. He was named Rotary International Student of the Month for October.

Ben was active in all sports, particularly football, baseball, and basketball, where he was named to several tournament and county teams and as an alternate all-state in 1994. He also participated in FFA and was a member of the student council.

After high school, he attended Cameron University for one year.

He obtained his electrical license and began working for S and S Electrical Contractors.

Ben especially loved and enjoyed his wife and children.

He also enjoyed coaching T-ball, wood working, and being a handyman.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joseph Edward Sylvester; grandmother, Helen Ann Yager; and aunt, Candace Sylvester.

Survivors include his wife, Amy Sylvester of the home; children, Hayley Marie and Reese Scott of the home; father, Joseph Edward Sylvester, Jr. of Cyril; mother, Tomi Yager of Chickasha; brother and wife, Justin and Kristi Sylvester of Chickasha; grandfather, “Pa Pa” Ben Yager of Cyril; grandmother, Coleen Sylvester of Cyril; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steve and Janell Renner of Anadarko; brother-in-law and wife, Stacy and Katrina Renner of Cyril; one uncle, several aunts and cousins, nieces and nephews, Joey, Taylor and Matthew Sylvester, Stacie and Jake Renner; many loving relatives, friends and neighbors.

Interment will be in the Celestial Gardens Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay’s Cyril Funeral Home.
