Forest Ivan Houtz

Funeral services for Forest Houtz, age 88 of Cyril, Oklahoma, will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 1998, in the First Baptist Church of Cyril. Rev. Travis Wollenberg will officiate.

Forest Houtz was born on January 16, 1910, in Tryon, Oklahoma, the son of Bell and Stella Houtz. He died on Monday, December 14, 1998, in Anadarko.

Forest served in the Army Medical Corp during World War 11. He worked at the APCO Refinery for over thirty years and retired in 1975. For the past several years, he spent his time fishing, hunting and gardening.

He was a member of the Midway Baptist Church.

Forest was preceded in death by his wife, Oleta, on August 29, 1995; his parents, two brothers, Oran and Chester Houtz; two sisters, Violet Montgomery and Alma Tischer. Forest was also preceded in death by one special granddaughter, Gina Houtz.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Claudia Houtz of Cyril; daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Chico Holzheuser of Cyril; son, David Houtz of Lawton; son, Joe Houtz of Cyril; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Evalee Houtz of Cement; one brother, Ray Houtz of Broken Arrow; ten grandchildren including Penny Harless whom Forest and Oleta raised; nine great grandchildren including one special great grandson, Jay Koehler, ; three great great grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Celestial gardens Cemetery under the direction of Binyon-Cyril Funeral Home.

Ethel Oleta Houtz

Oleta was born on July 6, 1918, in Laverty, Oklahoma, the daughter of William Quincy Sain and Carrie Hillie Jordan Sain.

She died on Tuesday, August 29, 1995, at her home, north of Cyril, at the age of seventy-seven years, one month and 23 days.

Oleta moved to Cyril in 1931.

In 1939, she married Forest Houtz, in Anadarko, Oklahoma. The couple moved to Lawton where they lived until moving back to Cyril in 1941. Oleta worked as a police and ambulance dispatcher for the City of Cyril for several years.

Mrs. Houtz was a member of the Midway Baptist Church. Oleta was preceded in death by both parents, one brother, and one granddaughter, Gina Houtz.

Survivors include her husband, Forest, of Cyril; son, Jack Houtz, of Cyril; daughter, Lynda Holzheuser, of Cyril; son, David Houtz, of Lawton; son, Joe Houtz, Elgin; son, Danny Houtz, of Cement; sister, Lavada Wilson, of Cyril; brother John Sain, of Ninnekah; brother, Bill Sain, of Elgin; brother, Jim Sain, of Cyril; sister, Frances Mahan, of Ardmore; sister, Dixie Berry of Cyril; ten grandchildren, including Penny Harless, whom Oleta raised; five great grandchildren.

Jack Wesley Houtz

CYRIL Graveside service for Jack Wesley Houtz, 74, Cyril, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Celestial Gardens Cemetery, Cyril, with Pastor Delbert McCurley officiating.

Jack passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 7, 2012, in Oklahoma City.

Arrangements are under direction of Cyril Funeral Home.

Jack was born Jan. 7, 1938, in Laverty, to Forest Ivan and Oleta Sain Houtz.

After graduating from high school, Jack entered the Army. After his service, he went to work for PSO, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority then CMI before going to work at Fort Sill.

He married Claudia Jean Moser in Wichita Falls, Texas, on July 27, 1968.

He worked as a telephone lineman at Fort Sill until his retirement. He then went to work as a school bus driver for Cyril School District and loved every minute of it.

Jack loved to fish. He was also a collector of many things, and he enjoyed reading western novels and watching westerns on TV. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by: his wife, Claudia, of the home; three daughters: Penny Callahan, Lawton; Casey and husband, John Farmer, Cyril; and Holly and husband, Brent Bellamy, Hydro; seven grandchildren: Jay Koehler, Robyn Houtz, Brittany Glass, Preston Farmer, Calley Farmer, Avary Bellamy and Rhett Bellamy; four great-grandchildren: Kash Glass, Jesse Koehler, Kamryn Glass and Forest Koehler; two brothers: Joe Houtz, and Danny and wife, Evalee Houtz, all of Cement; and one sister and her husband, Lynda and Chico Holzheuser, Cyril.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Forest and Oleta Houtz; his parents-in-law, Bill and Jean Moser; one brother, David Houtz; one niece, Gina Houtz; and one son-in-law, Dicky Callahan.

Serving as pallbearers are Roger Claborn-Morris, Bucky Latimer, Jay Koehler, Bill Wiley, Matthew Glass, Timmy Manning, Joe Houtz, Jr. and Brian Doughty.

Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Nix and Carl Winsor.

David Forest Houtz

Funeral for David Forest Houtz, 66, Lawton, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Calvary Temple, Cyril, with the Rev. Kip Ackley officiating.

Mr. Houtz died Sunday, March 14, 2010, in Lawton.

Burial will be in Celestial Gardens Cemetery, Cyril, under direction of McRay's Cyril Funeral Home.

David Forest Houtz was born Oct. 31, 1943, in Cyril, the son of Forest Houtz and Oleta Sain. He grew up in Cyril and after graduating from Cyril High School, he entered the National Guard, where he served four years. During this time, he began working for Beneficial Finance. He became the district manager for the Southwest District Office in Lawton. During his 35 years with the company, David received many awards for his outstanding service. David was a member of Midway Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Survivors include a daughter and husband, Heather Michener and Mason, of Lawton; grandsons: Maddox and Ryder Michener, both of Lawton; three brothers: Jack Houtz, Cyril; Joe Houtz, of Elgin; and Daniel Houtz, of Cement; sister, Lynda Holzheuser, of Cyril; many nieces and nephews; a lifelong friend, Dale Coffin; and many other friends and associates.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Gina Darlene Houtz; and his parents, Forest and Oleta Houtz.

Joe Ray Houtz Sr

Joe Ray Houtz, Sr Of Cyril, OK Was born April 14, 1945 in Cyril, OK to Forest and Oleta [Sain] Houtz. He passed away August 29th in Lawton, Ok at the age of 71.

Joe Ray graduated from Cyril High School in 1963. He worked for several places before taking a job with Public Service Company of Oklahoma in their warehouse, where he retired as the dock manager.

He was well known for his collection of Ford Mustangs. Joe loved to go fishing with family and friends.

Joe had also been known to give family and friends special nicknames if he really liked a person. He especially loved his family, and they loved him very much.

He is survived by: His son and wife- Joe Ray and Brittany Houtz, Jr. Chickasha, OK 1 grandson- Wesley David Dixon Houtz 1 brother and his wife- Danny and Evalee Houtz Cement, OK 1 sister and her husband- Lynda and Chico Holzheuser Cyril, OK 1 Sister-in-law- Claudia Houtz Cyril, OK 1 very special niece- Penny Houtz Callahan Lawton, OK 7 nieces and 1 nephew 6 great-nephews and 8 great nieces 3 great-great nephews and 5 great-great nieces His beloved pit bull, Tank.

He was preceded in death by: His parents 2 brothers- Jack Houtz, David Houtz 1 niece- Gina Houtz 1 nephew, Dicky .

A Service of Celebration will be held Saturday, September 3rd at 5:00 P.M. at the Cyril Keechi Trails Park Pavilion with Great-niece, Robyn Houtz as Honorary Speaker. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Cyril Funeral Home.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are: Allen Mandrell, Allen Ward, Don Coyle, Frank Esquire, Ronnie Lytle, Chico Holzheuser, Marcus Hall, Tom Ratchford, Jake Nunley, Andy Sain, Buck Sain.

The Family requests that everyone attending, please bring your memories of Joe to share in a book, and also a dish to share for supper.

Memorial contributions may be sent in memory of Joe Ray to the Oklahoma Special Olympics, a cause very dear to his heart!
