Donald W. Heavin

Memorial service for Donald W. Heavin, age 75, of Cyril, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2006, in the First Christian Church of Cyril.

Donald W. Heavin was born the son of Orval Vernon Heavin and Ella Lee Royston Heavin on December 12, 1930, in Anadarko, Oklahoma. He died on May 13, 2006, in Anadarko, Oklahoma.

He married Dorothy Detter on June 27, 1959, in Cyril.

Don graduated from Verden High School in 1948 and Oklahoma A&M (OSU) in 1954. Don entered the United States Air Force in 1954 and was honorably discharged from active service in 1957.

He worked as an accountant for APCO Refinery from 1958 to 1969. From 1969 to 1986, he worked as a pipeline superintendent for Anderson Prichard Pipeline Company. He worked for Associated Natural Gas from 1986-1988 for a total combined servide of 30 years. After retiring, he went to work as an insurance agent for Farmers Insurance Group in 1986. He later became an agent for Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company.

He was a member and elder of the First Christian Church where he taught the men's Sunday School class for many years. Don was a founding member of the Jaycee's and a member of the Masonic Lodge and Rotary International in Cyril.

Don's hobby was his work, his gardening, and traveling. He had a heart for helping and was a friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Vernon Ray Heavin.

Survivors include: wife: Dorothy Heavin of Cyril; son & wife: Mat & Kim Heavin of Chicago, Illinois; daughter & husband: Linda & Scott Simpson of Norman; son & wife: Scott & Lana Heavin of Fletcher; grandson: Marcus Simpson of Norman; granddaughter: Sally Anne Simpson of Norman; sister & husband: Betty & Bob Richard of Laguna Beach, California; sister & husband: Marilyn & Don Lair of Frisco, Texas; many nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Celestial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the McRay's Cyril Funeral Home.
