Melanie [Whitfield] Eppinghaus
March 8, 1968 ~ April 23, 2017


Funeral service for Melanie Whitfield-Eppinghaus, 49, of Hawaii, will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017, at the First Pentecostal Church of Apache with Pastor Les Claborn, officiating. Burial will follow at the Celestial Gardens under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral Home.

Mrs. Whitfield-Eppinhaus passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at her home in Pearl City, Hawaii at the age of 49.

Melanie was born March 8, 1968 in Fort Worth, TX to Truman and Flossie Whitfield. She grew up in Cyril, OK where she graduated in 1986.

She later became a nurse where she worked as a surgeon's assistant, which she loved to do. She always said the greatest thing is to hold a heart in her hands and help restart that heart. Melanie traveled all over America with her husband, where she found herself in Hawaii. She fell in love with snorkeling. She loved to shop and the beach. She was especially fond of her little dog "Bo".

Melanie is survived by husband, Justin Eppinghaus, currently residing in Hawaii; 1 daughter, Kristin Yarbrough and her fiancée Allen Peterson, of Fayetteville, NC; 2 sons: Austin Yarbrough and Alyssa Mansel of Colorado Springs, CO and Dakota Yarbrough, of Beaumont, TX; 1 grandson, Braylon Cole, of Wentworth, GA; her Mother and Father, Flossie and Truman Whitfield of Cyril, OK; 2 brothers: David Whitfield and his wife Susan of Diana, TX and Bryan Whitfield and his wife Mollene of Stillwater, OK; 1 sister, Felicia Parrott and her husband Randy of Bristow, OK; 7 nieces; 6 nephews; 11 great nieces; 8 great nephews; and a multitude of family and friends.

She is preceded in death by grandparents: Ernest and Matilda Claborn and Truman and Derenda Whitfield.
