Theodore Ralph Davis
August 2, 1928 ~ January 29, 2017


Funeral service for T. Ralph Davis, age 88, of Cyril will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at the Calvary Temple in Cyril.

Ralph moved to Cyril with his parents at the age of 9. He graduated from Cyril High School in 1946.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from October 1950 to December 1952. He went to work for Civil Service, Fort Sill, as a clerk in January 1953 and later promoted to a Manpower Management Analyst.

He married LaVeta Darrah on November 9, 1956, at Lookeba, Oklahoma.

Ralph joined the Cyril Pentecostal Holiness Church in 1950 and served several years as the pianist, youth director, Sunday School teacher and Sunday School secretary and treasurer. Before entering the ministry, Ralph served eight years as Assistant Director of the Conference Youth Department. During this time he edited a Conference Youth Newsletter which was published monthly.

In 1966, he felt his call into ministry and was later licensed and ordained in the Pentecostal Holiness Church. He pastored churches at Mountain View, Kingfisher, McLoud, Apache, Hinton and Anadarko. He was elected to serve the Conference as secretary and treasurer for 12 years. In 1987 he was elected as Conference Superintendent and served for 6 years. While serving as Conference Superintendent he served on the General Board of Administration of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. He also served on the Board of the Oklahoma Christian University and the Carmen Home for the Aged. During his ministry he attended Cameron University in Lawton, and the Oklahoma Christian University in Oklahoma City. While serving as Conference Superintendent he moved back to Cyril. While pastoring the Anadarko Church, he took a part-time job at the Cyril Funeral Home. Ralph retired from pastoring in 1998 and was later involved in Calvary Temple Outreach Ministries, serving as Associate Pastor, song leader, church treasurer and in charge of the Lighthouse Coffee House Ministries. On October 27, 2012 he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Heartland Conference, IPHC. In 2016 he received his 50 year pin as an ordained minister of IPHC.

Ralph loved oil painting, gospel singing and wrote several poems and songs with music. He enjoyed playing the piano, guitar and mandolin and was the author of one book, "I Remember When" which is a history of the West Oklahoma Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Ralph enjoyed his family, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, his church family and coffee buddies.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father Lafe and Eula Davis; brothers Walter Lafayette Davis and Dwain Bernard Davis; and sister Veta Maxine French Jones.

Survivors include his wife LaVeta Davis; daughter Paula Ackley and husband Kip of Cyril; daughter Darla Brookshire and husband Lance of Cyril; grandchildren Tara Allen and husband Tanner of Cyril, Jonathan Ackley and wife Lauren of Cyril, Darrah Shuffield and husband Eddie of Apache, Troy Brookshire of Cyril; great-grandchildren Makenzie and Bryson Allen, Daniel and Kalene Shuffield and Cooper Ackley; Brother Don Davis and wife Judy of Fletcher; Sister Wilma Hiner of Amarillo, TX.

Special thanks to two wonderful family angels that helped their Uncle Ralph so much; Kayla Hiner Toponce of Amarillo, TX and LaVoyd Davis from Cyril. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Temple.

Interment will be in the Celestial Gardens in Cyril. Services are under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home in Chickasha. Viewing will be at the Cyril Funeral Home in Cyril on Tuesday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm and Wednesday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

LaVeta Pearl [Darra] Davis
August 1, 1937 ~ July 22, 2020


LaVeta Pearl Davis was born on August 1, 1937 in Lookeba, Oklahoma to Lennie and Leona Darrah.

She passed away at her home in Cyril, Oklahoma on July 22, 2020.

LaVeta grew up on the family farm one mile west of Lookeba and graduated from Lookeba High School in 1955.

She married Ralph Davis on November 9, 1956.

LaVeta served faithfully as a minister's wife for many years in the West Oklahoma Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She taught Sunday school, children's church as well as serving as the Conference Women's Ministries President for many years. She was a charter member of Calvary Temple in Cyril.

LaVeta's hobbies included sewing, crocheting and making quilts. Over the past couple of years she assisted in making a quilt for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known for crocheting dish rags, pot holders and has made hundreds over the years and enjoyed giving them to others. She also owned and operated ceramic shops for several years in various towns in which they ministered.

She was also known for her faith and love for God and was a strong believer in the power of prayer. LaVeta loved reading the Bible, having read the entire Bible well over fifty times.

LaVeta was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kenneth Darrah.

Survivors include: Daughter, Paula Ackley and husband Kip of Cyril, Daughter, Darla Brookshire of Cyril; Grandchildren: Tara Allen and husband Tanner of Cyril, Jonathan Ackley and wife Lauren of Cyril, Darrah Shuffield and husband Eddie of Apache, Troy Brookshire of Cyril; Great Grandchildren: Makenzie, Bryson and Camden Allen, Cooper Ackley, and Kalene and Daniel Shuffield.

Viewing will be Friday, July 24, until 7:00 P.M. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 25, at 3:00 P.M. at Calvary Temple with Rev. Trulan Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Celestial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cyril Funeral Home.
