Tracy "Tom" Brazell

Funeral service for former Cyril resident Tracy "Tom" Brazell, 82, will be at 1:30 pm Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Cyril Church of Christ with Doug Graham, Minister officiating.

Mr. Brazell passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 in Overland Park, Kansas.

Burial will be in Celestial Gardens Cemetery, Cyril, under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Fletcher.

Tracy was born November 1, 1931 in Monday, Texas to Bert and Jessie Brazell. He was the third of five brothers. He graduated from Sunray High School, Sunray, Texas and then served in the Air Force. Tracy married Betty Cain, the love of his life, on July 27, 1952. They walked hand in hand until her death in February of 2008. He had various occupations in the agriculture business and was a preacher of the gospel. He retired from preaching at the Church of Christ in Cyril, Oklahoma in 2005. His pride and joy were his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, Richard "Butch" and Judy Brazell, Dumas, Texas and Tommy and Thelma Brazell, Midland, Texas; daughter and son in law, Kay and Mark Mitchell, Bonner Springs, Kansas; five grandsons, Cody Brazell, Dumas, Texas, Joshua Mitchell and his wife Regan, Olathe, Kansas, John Mitchell, Seattle, Washington, Jacob Mitchell, Lawrence, Kansas, and Clifton Brazell and his wife Alexis, Odessa, Texas; six granddaughters, Kimberly Cox and her husband Kyle , Dumas, Tracy Schinzel and her husband Chris, Bonner Springs, Natalie Morrill and her husband Nick, Anchorage, Alaska, Cassy Lynn and her husband Adam, Hermosa Beach, California, Londa Brazell Makhanue and husband Martine, Sunray, and Danyelle Tyler and her husband Bobby, Midland; eleven great grandchildren; Caleb Mitchell and Braeden Mitchell, both of Olathe, Adrin Brazell, Midland, Jude Schinzel, Bonner Springs, Allona Makhanue and Symphrosa Makhanue, both of Sunray, Chloe Mitchell and Brenna Mitchell, both of Olathe, Mallory Mitchell, Seattle, Sophia Sanchez, Dumas, Annabell Tyler, Midland; and two brothers and their wives, Bob Brazell and Jesslyn, Dumas, and J.L. Brazell and Lorene, Lawrence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two older brothers, Lebert and Hobert Brazell and a grandson, Tye Brazell.

Betty Lou [Cain] Brazell
April 15, 1936 - February 20, 2008


Age 71, Cyril - Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Cyril Church of Christ with Doug Graham, minister, officiating.

Mrs. Brazell died Wednesday at her residence.

Burial will be in the Celestial Gardens Cemetery, Cyril, under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Fletcher (Formerly Robbins Funeral Home).

She was born into this life on April 15, 1936 in Pampa, Texas, the second daughter of Ted and Abilene Cain. She grew up in Sunray, Texas, and Married Tom Brazell on July 27, 1952 in Sunray. They were married 55 years, only to be separated by death and together they had three children.

She was a very loving, faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Betty loved all those around her deeply from the heart. She loved and touched numerous people everywhere she went and leaves a loving legacy for us all.

She is survived by her husband, of the home; two sons and daughters in law, Richard "Butch" and Judy Brazell, Dumas, Texas, and Tommy and Thelma Brazell, Midland, Texas; a daughter and son in law, Kay and Mark Mitchell, Kansas City, Kansas; six grandsons, Tye and Cody Brazell, Dumas, Texas, Joshua Mitchell and wife Reagan, Lenexa, Kansas, John Mitchell and wife Katie, Seattle, Washington, Jacob Mitchell, Kansas City, Kansas, and Clifton Brazell and wife Alexis, Odessa, Texas; six granddaughters, Kimberly Brazell, Dumas, Texas, Tracy and Natalie Mitchell, both of Boise, Idaho, Cassy Mitchell, Spokane, Washington, Londa Makhanu and husband Martin and Danyelle Brazell, all of Midland, Texas; four great grandchildren, Allona and Symphrose Makhanu, Midland, Texas, Caleb Mitchell, Lenexa, Kansas, and Adrian Brazell, Midland, Texas; two nieces, Leslie Lindsey, Borger, Texas, and Denise Sheets, Sully, Iowa.

Her parents, an older sister, Peggy Lindsey, and a niece, Danatte Lindsey, preceded her in death.
