Duane Phillip Bass, Sr


September 14, 1930~ May 30, 2013

Duane Phillip Bass, Sr., 82, of Riverside, California, died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at his home. The son of Goued Samuel and Nona Love [Bradshaw] Bass, he was born September 14, 1930 in Oklahoma City.

He married the love of his life, Betty Jean Elrod, in 1950. They lived in Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma, before moving to California in 1962.

Duane was a very talented musician and played several instruments. He earned a living as a singer, songwriter, and musician, playing steel guitar and guitar in several country western bands throughout his career. He also taught music in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Tustin, California.

In his spare time, Duane enjoyed fishing for catfish and spending time with his family. He always loved traveling back to Oklahoma for the Bradshaw family reunions.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 61 years, Betty Bass, a daughter, Deanna Hayward, and a grandson, Samuel Bass.

Duane is survived by one son, Duane Bass, Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Debbie Underberg and husband, Jack, of South Dakota; three grandchildren, Russ Underberg, Kelly Aguilar, and Dean Bass; eight great grandchildren, Anthony, Jonathan, Jordan, Brooklyn, Jake, Taylor, Britton, and Warren; his brother, Sam Bass and wife, Jo, of Blanchard; his sister, Vicky Groenewold and husband, Dick, of Arizona; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 7, 2013, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Interment will follow in the Celestial Gardens Cemetery in Cyril, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Internet obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.

Vernon Ray "Sam" Bass

Vernon Ray "Sam" Bass, 82, of Blanchard, died Wednesday, September 26, 2018, in Tuttle. The son of Goude Samuel Bass and Nona Love [Bradshaw] Bass, he was born January 2, 1936 in Oklahoma City.

He served in the Air Force Reserves and was Christian in faith. Sam married Ava Jo Cox in January of 1960 in Duncan, Oklahoma. He worked for many years selling cars at various dealerships. In his spare time, Sam enjoyed fishing, woodworking, doing yardwork, and raising tomatoes. He enjoyed watching sports, especially OU football, New York Yankees baseball, and the Denver Broncos.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Duane Bass, Sr.

Sam is survived by his wife, Ava Jo Bass of Blanchard; two daughters, Teresa Gecevich and her husband, Chris, of Colorado and Brenda Reimche of Oklahoma City; three sons, Todd Bass and his wife, Jolene, of Utah, Jeff Bass and his wife, Michelle, of Colorado, and Buddy Longnecker and his wife, Deanna, of Newcastle; seven grandchildren, Rachael Bass, Paul Bass, Tish Longnecker, Kim Gault, Matt Reimche, Tori Reimche, and Conrad Reimche; six great grandchildren; his twin sister, Vernie Vay "Vickie" Groenewald and her husband, Dick, of Arizona; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Celestial Gardens Cemetery in Cyril. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
