Grover L. Tackett Funeral Services Held At Chickasha

Funeral services for Grover L. Tackett, father of Mrs. Alvin Willis, Carnegie, and a former resident of the Alfalfa community, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Sevier Funeral chapel at Chickasha. Rev. Raymond Ragsdale officiated. Interment was in the Alfalfa cemetery.

Tackett, 71, died Tuesday morning in the Anadarko hospital after a lengthy illness. He suffered a stroke about five years ago and had been ill since then. He became critically ill Saturday.

Born January 4, 1893, near Cowden, he was reared in that community.

He was married July 19, 1914, to Miss Josie Moss of Carnegie.

They farmed in the Alfalfa community living on land now farmed by Byron Luper. They moved to a farm south of Chickasha in 1944. Mrs. Tackett preceded him in death January 5, 1947.

He later did plumbing work in Chickasha until his health prevented it.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by three sons, Dale of Hereford, Texas, Harold and Glenn of Chickasha; four daughters, Mrs. Willis, Carnegie, Mrs. George A. Hands and Mrs. Jimmy Mead, Salinas, Calif., and Mrs. Kenneth Parker, San Jose, Calif.; 13 grandchildren including, Miss Linda and Dewayne Willis, Carnegie; one brother, five sisters, Mrs. John Oakes, Bend, Ore., Mrs. Edna Jeffers, Brighton, Colo., Mrs. Forest Wilder, Albuquerque, N.M., Mrs. Howard Mayfield, Friona, Texas, and Mrs. Perry Murphy, Colton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Dick Tackett of Anadarko, and a son and daughter.

Mrs. Tackett Rites Held Wednesday

Funeral services for Mrs. Josie Tackett, 50 were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Baptist church at Alfalfa with Rev. E. C. Price officiating. He was assisted by Rev. H. L. Hudgens of Chickasha.

Interment was in Alfalfa cemetery under the direction of the Chickasha Funeral home.

Mrs. Tackett died Sunday night at her home on route 2, Chickasha.

The church choir sang "Abide With Me," "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," "Does Jesus Care" and "Will the Circle Be Unbroken."

Pallbearers were J. O. Willis, William Gribi, George Willis, J. T. Johnson, C. C. Luper and Joe Boles.

She is survived by her husband, Grover I.; three sons, Dale, Harold and Glenn, all of Salina, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Lorene Willis of Carnegie, Mrs. Juanita Houks of Salinas, and Miss Mary Lou and Fannie Mae at home; one grandddaughter, her mother, Mrs. G. S. Moss of Carnegie, and four brothers, Clyde Moss of Hinston, Price of Salinas, Cleo of Alfalfa and Otto of Anadarko.
