Leon Junior Miller

On February 19, 2017, Leon Junior Miller, of Wade, Oklahoma, passed over to join the love of his life, Oleta, in Heaven. He was born on October 8, 1927 to William “Dave” and Bertha (Heath) Miller in Cherry Hill, Arkansas.

He was in the United States Army and served as a medic. Leon met Oleta Jackson in Oklahoma and married her on March 29, 1945. They had four children, Sandra, Bettye, Lonnie, and Michael. He drove a truck for years, earlier in his life he sold insurance and was a butcher, he eventually ended up farming, that which he loved the most. His garden was a show place, Leon, Oleta, and later daughter Bettye enjoyed canning the abundant harvest. Leon was a great story teller, five generations of his family enjoyed the stories. A few of his grandchildren were able to spend time with Leon toward the end of his life: Sandy, Tracy, Keith, Thomas, and Tod.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Oleta; daughter, Sandra Webb; parents, William ‘Dave” and Bertha Miller; brothers, Dwain, Lester, and Rufus Miller; sisters, Jewel, Ruby, Opal and Judy.

Mr. Miller is survived by his daughter, Bettye Willingham of the home; sons, Lonnie Miller of Kingsland, Texas and Michael Miller and wife DeAnn of West Jordan, Utah; and sister, Edna Nicoles and husband Darrell of Maybank, Texas; He was the fifth generation, there were many: grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends, a special great-granddaughter Michaela Wonder, Close pals, Colton Jones, and Monie Allen, and everyone at the Wade-Albany Senior Citizens Center that were left with his cherished memory. A special thank you from Leon’s family for all the years of love and prayers from his fellow seniors over the years.

Family hour will be from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM Friday, February 24th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant. A church service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, February 25th at the Wade Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Miller officiating.

Pallbearers will be Keith Webb, Kieran Willingham, Richard Marquis, Thomas Willingham, Tim Willingham, Tod Willingham, Gregory Hoss, Tylor Webb, Teddy Willingham, and John Swett. Honorary pallbearer will be Colton Jones.

 Burial will follow at the Wade Cemetery.
