John "Larry" Martin, a beloved family member, and lifelong resident of Durant, Oklahoma left this life too soon on Thursday June 1, 2017 at the age of 66 years and 4 months. Larry was born in Durant, Oklahoma on February 7, 1951 to Lawrence and Elizabeth (Sanders) Martin. He married Dorthy Onley in Durant, Oklahoma on December 31, 1986.

Larry served his country in the United States Air Force. He always enjoyed watching a good western on TV. Larry had a joyful personality, and was a joker at heart, he had a easy laugh, and could make other people laugh also.  He liked to play a good game of dominoes, the quiet solitude of fishing, and to fiddle around. He cherished his wife Dorthy, and all of their grandchildren. Larry was deeply loved by all who knew him.

Mr. Martin is survived by his beloved wife, Dorthy of the home; children, David Williams and wife Janice, Michael Williams, Rhonda Butler and husband Ricky, Cindy Mersecchi and husband Roby, Faith Mitchell and husband Wilson, and Doyle White and wife Sharon; brothers, William (Billy) Martin, Michael Martin, Ed (Donut) Martin, and Roy (Bo) Martin; sister, Ila Martin; 21 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Larry's family resides mostly in the Durant, Oklahoma area.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Elizabeth Martin; son, James Williams; brother, Joe Allen Martin; and sister, Florence Martin.

Family hour will be from 6-7:00 PM Tuesday June 6th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A chapel service will be at 2:00 PM June 7th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel with Pastor Jesse West officiating.

Burial will be at the Silo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Jones, Kevin Jones, David Williams, Michael Martin, Josh Martin, and Jeremy Martin. The Honorary pallbearers will be Wilson Mitchell and Ricky Butler.
