John Charles “J.C.” McKinney, 75, of Colbert, passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 4, 2008, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Oct. 4, 1933, in Platter and was the son of the late Glenn and Juston Davis McKinney. He attended Colbert schools. He married Lorene Baker Jan. 29, 1955, in Madill and was of the Baptist Faith. He was a truck driver for many years and lived in Wichita Falls, Texas, from 1967-1980, who had otherwise lived in Colbert the rest of his life.
He was preceded in death by his sister Maxine Carr and great-granddaughter Alexis Paige Ailey.
Survivors include his wife and son Johnny McKinney of the home; daughter Patty Teal and husband Jim of Vian; brothers Buddy McKinney and wife Sandy of Cartwright, D.G. McKinney and Hopper McKinney and wife Lola, all of Calera; sisters Hazel Flaherty and husband Leo of Las Vegas, Nev., Mildred Maupin and husband Lefty and Linda Etchieson and husband Claude, all of Calera; brother-in-law Red Carr of Cartwright; grandchildren Aaron Ailey of Denison, Texas, and Amber Tucker of Sherman, Texas; step-grandchildren Eric and Leann Teal of Bennington, Carl and Danny Teal of Vian, Stephen and Sandy Teal of Springville, La., and Heather and Darin Johnson of Denison, Texas; great-grandchildren Jordyn and Caedon Ailey of Denison, Texas, and Tyson and Taryn Tucker of Sherman, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for “J.C.” McKinney will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Cartwright on Willafa Woods Road with Bro. Ray Earley officiating.
Burial will follow in Rosewood Cemetery in Achille.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Ailey, Ray Lynn Masterson, Buddy McKinney, Jr., Mark McKinney, Steve Withers, Scott McKinney, Jeremy McKinney, Greg McKinney and Tommy McKinney.
Family night will be from 6-7 p.m. today at Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert.
