Darrell Ross McBride

Bokchito, OK- Darrell Ross McBride was born Saturday, August 6, 1955 at Victorville, California to Oscar Ross McBride and Mae Amelia (Lopez) McBride. Darrell passed from this life on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 68.

Darrell and his family moved around a lot as he was the son of a military serviceman. He spent the last few years attending Blue High School where he graduated. Darrell has been employed with the Town of Bokchito for the past 10 years in the water department. He enjoyed his job from maintenance to whatever needed to be done for the town. Darrell loved his boys and grandbabies, and feeding and taking care of his cats. He also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. Darrell was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard McBride; and aunt, Vera Polson.

Darrell is survived by his brother, Dale McBride and his wife, Jamie, of Waxahachie, Texas; sister, Brenda Brown and her husband, Robert, of Mead, Oklahoma; brother, Jerry McBride of Durant; brother, Larry McBride and his wife, Kathleen, of Corvallis, Oregon; special friend, Elitha McBride of Bokchito; sons, Johnny Ashby and Kerry-Paul Ashby both of Bokchito; grandchildren, Darren Ashby, Macie Ashby, Ashton Ashby, Kenneth Ross Ashby, Samuel McBride, and Damien McBride; 1 great-grandson, Daxton Allen; and several nieces and nephews and good friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 4, at Brown's Funeral Home chapel in Durant with Bro. Ross Phillips officiating. Interment services will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with Tim Goolsby, Allen Scott, Elbert (PeeWee) Maxwell, Tink Johnson, Ricky Ogden, and Wayne Minyard.
