Opal O.V. Johnson Griffin

Opal O.V. Griffin a resident of Durant, Oklahoma left this life in Denison, Texas on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the age of 94. She was born in Kenefic, Oklahoma on November 20, 1921 to Frank and Nellie Mae (Riter) Johnson. Opal was married to Robert A. Griffin, he preceded her in death in 1993.

Opal was a dedicated, faithful, member of the Mead Baptist Church. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school class, and was always an example to others of her Christian faith in God. Opal loved to travel, and camp under the stars. She liked to watch Family Feud, Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune.

Mrs. Griffin is survived by her sons, Dale Griffin and wife Ruth Ann of Sherman, Texas and Dean Griffin and wife Mary of Sherman, Texas; and a brother, Arvil Johnson of Colbert, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nellie Mae Johnson; husband, Robert Griffin; daughters, Nelda June Daugherty, Patricia Dills and LaDonna Perkins; brothers, Cecil Johnson, Troyce Johnson and Leo Johnson; and sister, Rosenell.

A chapel service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 14th at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel in Durant, Oklahoma with Pastor Danny Woods officiating. Pallbearers will be James Dill, Mitch Griffin, Lee Perkins, Chad Womack, Jason Stewart and Tom Folgers. Burial will follow at the Rosehill Cemetery in Calera.
