John Luther Coley of Calera, OK passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 in Durant, OK at the age of 70. He was born on January 23, 1948 in Richmond, California to Luther Everett Coley and Edith Woodson.

He graduated from Richmond High School in Richmond, CA and married Wendy Lady on August 27, 1977 in Reno, Nevada. In August of 1980, John and his family moved from San Pablo, CA to Bryan County after a brief stay in Montana. John was employed at Pillsbury in the maintenance department for 22 and a half years. He later went on to work as a custodian for 13 years at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

>p>He was a member of Western Heights Church of Christ in Sherman, TX and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and doing home improvement projects.

He is preceded in death by his father, Luther Everett; mother, Edith Woodson; sister, Wanda Rogers; brother, Raymond Morris, and brother Ronald Coley.

Survivors include his loving wife, Wendy Coley of the home; sons, Jamie Coley and John E. Coley with wife Brooke of Durant, OK; grandsons, Braxden Coley, Brynnen Coley, Gavin Coley, and Blake Coley; brother, Hugh “Bun” Coley and wife Shirley of Hercules, CA; sister-in-law, Trudy Coley along with numerous nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Durant, OK with Bro. Mitch Wiggains officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera, OK with Alan Davis, Jordan Blackburn, Michael Pruitt, Curtis Boone, Eric Coley, and Mike McCollum serving as pallbearers.

Services are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
