Raymon "Mink" Chalk

Services for Raymon "Mink" Chalk, 68, of Mead, who passed away Saturday, April 15, 2006, at the Medical Center of Southeastern in Durant, will be at 2 p.m. at Mead Baptist Church. Rev. Kerry Groce will officiate.

Mink was born June 4, 1937 in Utica to Frank C. and Clora (Taylor) Chalk. Mink attended school in Blue, and received a B.A. in business from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. Mink married Joy Bridges Dec. 26, 1956 in Platter. He served in the Army from September 1956 to August 1959. Mink worked at Western Electric in the 1960s in Dallas, Texas, and at Kawneer Manufacturing Plant in Denison, Texas, where he retired in 1991. Mink was a member of Rising Star Masonic Lodge No. 129 in Calera and a member of the Elks Lodge. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mink was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Clora Chalk; wife, Joy Chalk; brother, Jerry Wayne Chalk and sister, Wanda Busby.

Survivors include sons, Steve Chalk and wife Teena of Caddo, and Mike Chalk of Mead; brother, Billy Frank Chalk and wife Helen of Forney, Texas; sister, Loneta Hiberd-Covey of Sherman, Texas; granddaughters, Lyndsay Robison and husband Daniel, and Amber Chalk; grandson, Aaron Chalk; great-grandson, Ryan Robison; sisters-in-law, Joyce Brown and Mae Thornhill; brother-in-law, Pete Bridges; other relatives and a host of friends.

Family hour will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Mead Cemetery with Jimmy Brown, Charles Bridges, Frank Reed, Jode Mitchell, J.D. Gamble and Harlan Bridges serving as pallbearers.

The family requests memorials be made to the Rising Star Masonic Lodge No. 129 Scholarship Fund, PO Box 129, Calera, OK 74730.

Services for Aletta Joy Chalk, 65, Mead, who passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mead Baptist Church. Rev. Kerry Groce will officiate.

Aletta was born Oct. 20, 1940 in Platter to Benjamin Ray and Essie Edna (Arney) Bridges. She lived in the Bryan County area all her life and attended school at Calera.

Aletta married Raymon M. Chalk December 26, 1956 in Platter. She was a member of Eastern Star chapter No. 490 and was employed at That Country Music Place. Aletta was a member of the Mead Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Essie Bridges; and brothers, Jesse, Ray and Leon Bridges.

Survivors include her husband, Raymon M. Chalk of the home; sons, Mike Chalk of the home, and Steve Chalk and wife Teena of Caddo; twin sister, Joyce Brown and husband Jimmy of Silo; sister Beda May Thornhill and husband Hugh of Oklahoma City; brother, James Pete Bridges of Calera; grandchildren, Lyndsay Robison and husband Daniel of Kenefic, and Amber and Aaron Chalk of Caddo; great-grandchild Ryan Robison of Kenefic; her pet Pomeranian, Sugar Bear, and a host of friends. Aletta will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Family hour will be from 6 - 8 p.m.today at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Mead cemetery with Harlin Bridges, Robert Johns, Jay Dee Gamble, Frank Reed, Jimmy Brown and Eddie Castleman serving as pallbearers.
