Services for Juanita Doris (Garrett) Walton, 88, of Kemp, who passed away Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at her residence in Hendrix, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ in Kemp. Bro. Jan Kelly will officiate.
Juanita was born Friday, Dec. 12, 1919, in Dow to Otto C. Garrett and Ressie (Ames). She married Lem Walton on Dec. 23, 1934, in Carpenter's Bluff. Juanita was married for 71 years until her husband's death on Nov. 3, 2005.
She was a good cook and was a very outspoken lady. She was a member of the Kemp Church of Christ and loved playing dominoes and fishing. She was always at her husband's side.
Juanita was also preceded in death by her grandchildren Ronnie Walton and Anna Witt, brothers Otto Coleman and Kenneth Carroll Garrett and sister Wanda Shakleford.
She is survived by sons Willie Ray Walton and wife Thu, Killeen, Texas, and Billy Murl Walton and wife Kathy, Kemp; daughters Betty Buchannan and husband Willie, Oklahoma City, Eyvonne West, Denison, Texas, Burma Daley and husband Jim, Kemp, and Nancy Cleveland and husband Charles, Durant; brother Vernon Garrett and wife Mary, Kemp; sister Bobbie Jean Morton, Lewisville, Texas; special sister-in-law Toni Garrett, Lewisville, Texas; half-brothers Garry Garrett and wife Helen and Eddie Garrett and wife Hazel, all of Oklahoma City, Nathan Garrett and wife Tammy, Calera, Timmy Garrett and wife Sonya, Durant, and Calvin Garrett, Bosley; half-sisters Marla Kelsey and husband Tommy, Colbert, Teresa Scoggins and husband Larry, Calera, Rhonda Anthony and husband George, Hayesville, Kan., LaDonna Condor, Denison, Texas, and Angela Kissee, Calera; 28 grandchildren, 42 great-granchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Interment will follow at Kemp Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Daley, Phillip Cleveland, Chris Walton, Phillip Walton, Ronnie Carter, Jack Reagan, Chad Hobbs, Eddie Hobbs, Robert Hobbs, Rodney West and Johnny Hobbs.
Family hour will be from 7-8 p.m. today at Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home.
