Fred O'Connell, a beloved family member, and resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed from this life on Thursday July 27, 2017 at the age of 80 years 3 months and 7 days. He was born on April 20, 1937 in Arkansas City, Kansas to C.L. and Mable (Rustin) O'Connell.

Fred was a self-employed contract welder by trade. He loved to talk and tell stories about his life experiences as long as he had someone to listen. Before he became ill he loved to work in his yard, and read his hunting and fishing magazines. He enjoyed being in the woods hunting, the quiet solitude of fishing, and a love of old cars. Fred looked forward to drinking coffee and visiting with his friends at the old muffler shop.

Mr. O'Connell is survived by his sisters, Ruth Darst of Santa Paula, California, and Melva Tinkler of Durant, Oklahoma; children, Rhonda Clifford, Amber and Anglea; 10 grandchildren and nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mr. O'Connell was preceded in death by his parents, C.L. and Mabel O'Connell; sister, Ruby; adopted son, Andrew; and grandson David.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday August 1, 2017 at the Highland Cemetery Pavilion in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. Clifford Joines officiating.
